For the conquest of the Khanate of Kokand 1875-1876, Russian Imperial silver medal; Diameter: 29 mm; Weight: 10.96 g; Medal "For the Conquest of the Khanate of Kokand" — the state award of the Russian Empire, established in memory of the Kokand campaign (1875-1876). The medal "For the Conquest of the Khanate of Kokand" is a medal of the Russian Empire for awarding participants in the military campaign to eliminate the Kokand Khanate in 1875-1876. It was established on November 26 (December 8), 1876 by decree of [2][3] Emperor Alexander II[4][5][6][7]. The decree was announced to the Senate on November 30 (December 12), 1876[2][3]. The diameter is 28 mm. The obverse of the medal depicts the ornate monogram of Alexander II. A large imperial crown is depicted above the monogram. On the reverse side of the medal, the date is horizontally located in the center: "1875-1876". There was an inscription along the rim along the circumference: "FOR THE CONQUEST OF THE KHANATE OF KOKANSKAGO." The beginning and end of the inscription are delimited by a small five-pointed star[1][7][8][9]. The main edition was made at the St. Petersburg Mint. 7,500 medals were minted[1][7]. There are variants of the medal, which is due to the fact that it was allowed to manufacture the medal by private workshops. Different versions may differ slightly in the details of the image[1]. The Kokand Khanate (Uzbek: Qo'qon xonligi; Persian: خانات خونند Khānāt-i Khuqand; kirg. Kokon khandygi) is an Uzbek[6] state with the capital Kokand, which existed from 1709 to 1876 on the territory of modern Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, southern Kazakhstan and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (East Turkestan)[7][8]. The Kokand Khanate, along with the Bukhara Khanate (Bukhara Emirate) and the Khanate of Khiva, was one of the three Uzbek khanates in Central Asia[9].
