Description
Silver. Over a flat base, a bulging, oval body rises. Curved, almost rectangular hinged lid with rounded corners. Wall and lid divided into four sections by vertical pulls. Signed, marked by the master George Schmidt (active since approximately 1703). Weight approximately 345 g. Height 7 cm. 13 cm x 10 cm. Compare with Neuhauß/Schmidberger/Richter, Kasseler Silver, BZ 3, MZ 69. A rare heavy German Baroque silver sugar box by George Schmidt (active since approximately 1703). Assay and master's mark. German. Kassel. Around 1735.
