Description

Rectangular pedestal base. Seated sea lion with raised head on rocky terrain. Delicately etched, suggested fur markings. Accentuated, polychrome glazed painting. Possibly by Prof. August Gaul. Model number A 1026. Sword mark. Height 32 cm. 27 cm x 23 cm. From the estate of the deceased sculptor and Berlin Art Academy professor August Gaul (born 1869). He acquired the manufactory in 1922 with approximately 20 animal bronzes, which were shaped in Bottgersteinzeug and white porcelain under the supervision of his student Max Esser between 1922 and 1923.
