Art Deco Figurine "Seated Diana" by Meissen

Description

On a rectangular pedestal, sitting on a rock, is an unclothed Diana, bathing with her upper body leaning forward and her head lowered. Her dark, finely curled hair is pinned back with a gold comb. She is wearing a finely patterned Indian flower motif dress with light blue lining and a quiver filled with arrows lying beside her. She is wearing sandals on her feet. Delicately shaded flesh tones. Polychrome pastel-colored accents accentuate the painting with gold. Either by Paul Scheurich, around 1920/21. Model number A 1046. Sword mark. Height 31 cm. The model "Seated Diana" was exhibited at the Berlin Secession exhibition before it was first formed in 1921 and offered for sale by the manufactory in November 1922.
